Waldorf Astoria - Roosevelt Hotel, New Orleans, LA
When the new owners of the old Fairmont hotel in New Orleans decided to renovate the hotel as the NEW Roosevelt Hotel, A Waldorf Astoria Property, Digital Designers was chosen as the low voltage provider for wiring the entire property for audio, video, and telecommunications.
According to Michael Harkins, one of the founding partners at Digital Designers, the project presented some unique challenges. The hotel as seen in the picture to the right, has two distinct residential towers which were being renovated in different phases. Connecting the two towers from a telecommunications perspective required some ingenious planning and design elements.
Just one part of the project included adding high quality analog cameras in the 7 elevators in both towers. This created a huge challenge as video and power had to traverse multiple junction points in the elevator shaft. Existing CAT-5e phone lines were used to pass Video from the 12th floor IDF junction point to each elevator control room. Video was then passed down to newly installed CAT-5e cable from that 12th floor IDF junction to a 3rd floor IDF. From there, the cable was run across a city block to the PBX using existing CAT-5e cable pairs. Finally, existing pairs of cable (that were running back across the city block through the basement from the PBX to the Security Department) were utilized to get video to the digital video recorders.
In addition to the surveillance system, Digital Designers designed and installed a complete wiring solution that included WAP, MATV and POS Design, wiring termination and certification in all 504 guest rooms.
By working closely with the project’s managers, Digital Designers was able to deliver the project on time and within budget. In addition to the completion of the project, Digital Designers maintains an ongoing service contract to support the hotel's current and future needs in the low voltage category.
The Roosevelt Hotel opened its historic doors on July 1st, 2009.
The HOS Strongline is the world's largest offshore Oil & Gas supply vessel at 370 feet. Digital Designers was brought in to provide several complex and demanding technology solutions for the project.
In addition to providing a complete wiring solution for all vessel navigation controls, Digital Designers provided a turnkey high-end surveillance system with 4 control stations throughout the ship. Cameras included 26x zoom capability with advanced Pan-Tilt-Zoom control. All cameras were placed in explosion-proof housings with heaters and blowers to provide the highest levels of protection and performance in even the most demanding environments.
This project demanded serious design considerations as the wire and cable was required to be run from upper forward decks, down below the engine room, and through a 200' mid-section of the ship with only 4' of height clearance to the rear of the vessel. Special explosion-proof cable was fabricated to meet the requirements for the project.
The project was delivered on time and on budget for the client.
NOLA Motorsports Park
NOLA Motorsports Park is a road race track in Avondale, Louisiana, just 15 minutes across the Mississippi River from New Orleans. The kart circuit and North Track circuits opened in Q4 of 2011. Future plans include the completion of a South Track. When linked with the North Track, it will form a five-mile course, making it the longest race track in North America.
In addition to the two international race tracks, the facility also features karting tacks, full service seven acre kart center, on-site speed shop, clubhouse, an eight acre autocross pad, single lane drag strip, and luxury villas for residents.
The Park was designed with forward thinking electronic systems. Digital Designers designed and installed the complex fiber optic wiring network for the property which required running, terminating, and certifying nearly 10 miles of Fiber Optic cable via direct burial and conduit at the 80 acre race site with pulls ranging from 300' to over 4,400'.
The infrastructure will be used to link 10 Corner Post Stations along the racetrack and all administration and Operational buildings.
Difficult and complex installations such as this project are what help set Digital Designers apart from all other low voltage providers.
Marriott Pompano Beach Resort & Spa
Marriott International designed a new Resort & Spa for the South Florida market and Pompano Beach was chosen as the site and Digital Designers was chosen as the low voltage provider for the project.
Digital Designers provided a turnkey cabling solution for both towers. The solution included complete wiring, termination, and certification for Voice, Data, WAP, MATV, POS, Message Board systems, and all audio and video throughout guestrooms in both towers and all common areas of the resort property.
The Voice and Data backbone was all multi-mode armored fiber. The installation included the supply of all materials which included cable, racks, patch panels, splitters, and more. At the completion of the project, complete labeling schematics and as-built drawings were handed over to the hotel.
Finally, two 16-channel DVR Surveillance Systems were installed for the entire property. Now, the client has global remote access of their surveillance system via smartphone app or Internet Explorer based PC.
By designing the system in-house, Digital Designers was able to deliver the project on time and on budget for the client.
Renaissance Hotel - Baton Rouge, LA
When the Renaissance Hotel was being conceived, Digital Designers was brought in to design a completely custom system for virtually all aspects of the hotel's low voltage needs.
During construction, we installed a turnkey cabling service for Voice, Data, WAP, MATV, IPTV, Thermostat Control, POS, and Message Board systems throughout the entire 12-story property. In addition, we provided wiring for all 10 IDF's and PBX systems. The Voice and Data backbone was all multi-mode armored fiber. Also, we included the supply of all materials, labeling schematics, and as-built drawings.
Additionally, we provided all Audio/Visual Systems for all of the Common, Meeting, Board, and Ballrooms with Touchscreen wall-mounted LCD's for Systems Control. The entire system operates on a Crestron backbone.
Finally, Digital Designers provided a 42-camera turnkey Surveillance System for the entire property, including four 18x high-end Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras giving the client global remote access via smartphone, tablet, or Internet Explorer on any computer.
The project was delivered on time and on budget for the owners.
Embassy Suites - Riverwalk, San Antonio, TX
When the new Embassy Suites at the Riverwalk in San Antonio was being planned, Digital Designers' bid was as competitive as any, but it was our history of designing, installing, and completing projects on time and on budget that helped seal the deal on this property.
As with many of our hotel and resort projects, the job included turnkey cabling service for Voice, Data, WAP, MATV, and POS systems throughout the entire 16-story property, all 9 IDF's, and the PBX. The service included Design, Wiring, Termination, and Certification of the entire system.
The Voice, Data, and WAP backbone was a combination of copper and multi-mode fiber. The installation included the supply of all materials, labeling schematics, and as-built drawings.
Marriott Three Lakeway Center, Metairie, LA
When the Marriott at Three Lakeway Center in Metairie decided to update the property, Digital Designers partnered with the hotel to update the audio/video capabilities of the new upscale Bar38 pub.
A complete turnkey and robust audio/video system was designed to provide audio and video from several sources of the owner's choosing. The system includes 3 wall-mounted LCD touchscreen panels that enable the property to display different sources on individual flat panels and play the same or a myriad of different sources in the Pub's seating areas.
