In 2002, Michael Harkins, Robbie Hurley, and David Hurley set out to start a company to provide technology solutions for the home that were reasonably priced and operated at the touch of a button. Tremendous hours and long nights and weekends were spent developing the business model, the solutions, and the vision for the company. In November, 2002, papers were filed with the State of Louisiana and Digital Designers, LLC was born.
David brought significant experience in the IT business and managed his own IT Support firm called H&H Support Services. Robert had an extensive background in the audio/video industry having worked in the Product Development Group for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America for over a decade. Michael rounded out the management team with over a decade of experience in Finance as Vice President of an investment banking firm overseeing mergers and acquisitions.
The company went on to develop a suite of affordable and easy to use home technology solutions which operated at the touch of a button. The name "DIGITAL DESIGNERS" evolved from the notion that we would create 'digital' audio, video, security, and automation solutions for the home and office, but with 'design' elements that were aesthetically appealing in the home and office and were 'designed' to be simple to operate. Digital Designers partnered with several large residential builders in the area and provided turn-key solutions to their customers. During this period, the company continued to hone it's technical and management experience as well as it's business strategy.
After hurricane Katrina devastated the entire Gulf South in August, 2005, there was a lot of uncertainty about the future of the Greater New Orleans area. David left the company to focus on managing his growing IT support company. In an effort to expand our portfolio of solutions and capitalize on the rebuilding in a post-Katrina environment, Digital Designers merged with another local company specializing in security alarms and low voltage solutions. This merger brought security and surveillance solutions into Digital Designers' solutions portfolio and further strengthened our position in the marketplace.
Two years after Katrina, Digital Designers' focus shifted from the commodity business of audio and video systems for the home, to the growing commercial arena by offering a wide array of low voltage solutions. Since then, our company has gone on to become one of the premiere single source low voltage solutions companies in the Gulf South and beyond.
TODAY, Digital Designers prides itself on having built a solid company on repeat and referral business by providing the highest level of Service, Integrity, and Commitment to our clientele.
